Hermia: So to Lysander, my lord
Theseus: You’re right…since your father is in charge you should consider Demetrius as your husband
Hermia: I wish my father would understand
Theseus: Well, you must obey your father
Hermia: Please forgive me for saying this, but what could be the worst for me to marry Demetrius?
Theseus: You’ll be excuted or become a nun and never see other men in your life again.

Hermia: I will give you my word, I’ll be there.
Helena enters
Hermia: Hello beautiful!
Helena: Wait! You call me beautiful? Please take it back, in Demetrius’s eyes you’re the beautiful one. You’re lucky. If the world is all mine I will give up everything except Demetrius to be you.

Helena: The more I love him the more he hates me
Hermia: No worries, he will never see my face again. Lysander and I will run awayLysander: Helena, we’ll tell you about our secret plan. We plan to sneak out of Athens because of our love.

excert-new american class

My inspiration and mistakes have made me who i am!

Hello my name is Mia. I am 15 years old and have a great story to tell about my history, where I am now, and where I’m going in life. My dad is a role model to my African American family and me. My dad’s ancestors came from Africa. America was built on the backs of slavery. I am proud to show my pride.

My grandfather has had a hard life; his father was in construction in the lumberyard. He was killed by a construction accident, when telephone poles fell on him. That left my grandfather and his mother on their own to survive. A couple years later his mother was murdered in a bar in a tragic shooting. His grandmother raised him the rest of his young life. When my grandfather was getting his degree in college his grandmother got sick. So in her honor and as a grateful Christian and the respectful being that he is; he dropped out and went to Atlanta to take care of her. When she died she left everything to him. With that passion he found his love for landscape and created his own business. When he got married and had kids he wasn’t the greatest father to my dad and his brother and sisters; but I love him with all my heart. It’s sad that he is very sick but we as a family will get through it together in the end.

I am proud to show my pride when it comes to being half black- the pride of my black people.
When he got married and had kids he
wasn’t the greatest father to my dad and his brother and sisters; but I love him with all my heart with forgiveness and prayer. Its sad that he is very sick but we as a family will get through it together in the end.
On my mother’s side I
didn’t get a lot of information on how my mom’s ancestors got here, but I have some ideas. My mom is white but she is really French, German, and Irish. Most people of those races came to America during the great depression during the 1940’s so that is how I think my mother’s side got here. My grandmother’s mom died in childbirth with her brother when she was only 8 years old. So her dad raised her and her brother the rest of their young lives. I never met my grandfather when I was very young- he died. I was about three. I wish I could talk to him now to get to know him. The one thing I’ve heard about my grandfather is that he that my dad was a good man and did not judge him for the color of his skin like my grandmother did, and I will remember that always in my heart.
My life now is great. I have changed a lot since I moved from living with my mom to my dad. I have changed my attitude and how I think about things in a positive way. I’
ve decided to head back to my Christian church and decided what I want to do in the future. I’m so grateful to my dad for showing me the right path how I should lead my life. I truly give him credit or who I am today. This year I will be transferring to the school of Science and Technology. This decision allowed me to choose my path in life. Transferring to SCT doesn’t seem like a huge deal, but it is to me because it will help me to get to my career in medicine.
In the future I want become a doctor. It is a lot of work, but in the end I will be happy because what I do makes a difference! I can save lives, which in itself is a miracle. What God has given us that we as human beings have this power is amazing. This career is also international. A career that I can live anywhere in the world and still have a career that can cure people in need to the ends of the world is phenomenal. There are no limitations where I can go! After a couple of years practicing in the States I would like to participate in Doctors Without Borders and possibly go to Africa because there is a lot of war and sickness in that country. I also would like to have my own practice so I can do things without limitation that hospitals and managers give to you, and when I retire it can be passed on to future generations of my family. I would like to have a family also because I have so much love that I could give to my husband and children that would
fulfil my dream and make me forever happy.

assignment 11

OTHELLO.
It is true, i know it,--
I'm not going to blame fortune or chance!--
It is true.--i will not hurt her;
i will not scar her white skin,
her skin which is as pretty as alabaster.

[Takes off his sword.]

She must die or she will betray more men.
I will turn out the light then kill her:
If I stop her from controlling me, i can be happy once again,
Should feel sorry i shall kill myself;
evil is in her nature,
If i regret it i know not how to bring her back.
Once she's dead i can't bring her back,
She must die slowly:--And I'll smell her before she's dead

July 9, 2008

Dear Mr. and Mrs.Capulet:

Good day, sorry to have disturbed you in this grave matter of your only nephew's death. However, I wanted to discuss Tybalt's behavior in today's fight in beautiful Verona. Tybalt was seen disrespecting and taunting others which started the fight that lead to the death of your nephew Tybalt. I just wanted to encourage you to as guardians of Tybalt to be good parents and or family by raising him as a good Christian.

Parents/ guardians of Tybalt should be mature enough to discipline Tybalt like a son and punish him when it is needed; so he could of learned from his mistakes. Being good parents to Tybalt is to be good role models to him as Christian's. That would give him a higher standard to be. How a child is raised is how they will act and raise their sons or daughters.

Finally, I would like to say again that you should have raised Tybalt as a son and like a good Christian gentleman. In the future you should be an example for your family and future generations to come. Thank you for your time and I would like to give condolences to that family of Tybalt whose non-christian actions lead to his death.

Sincerely,

Reading the language of the Renaissance period was extremely hard. It was hard because of the text that was used and the unclear saying of what they meant in the sentence. The structure was used in the olden day, the letters were also hard the see. English today has been reworded and sentence structure became easier the understand. Words like liberty was spelled differently meaning, as we became more advanced we changed the other order in which we write and spell things to make it easier for us to understand.

Assignment 5

Please write a 250word blog post to your blog in response to the question:

Did Shakespeare write his own plays?
Please find and cite two additional sources to support your opinion.

Yes Shakespeare did write his own plays. Scholars only bring up the opinion of education being the strongest evidence. Which is not enough in my opinion to accuse the greatest play write/ poet in history to not be a fraud or a fact. There is no evidence that a man of low status that rose up could not be rich and famous could not be the best play write in American literature.

Some arguments are based on anagrams or hidden messages in the plays like hamlet. They used the theory and fond a translation of a word, which said, "Francis Bacon wrote the plays" which not all theory's work. It is not based on all the plays. So they cannot make a conclusion based on one play. Scholars of this theory didn't even do any research if such person even existed in the Renaissance period at all. So this theory is not all correct in truth so it is Shakespeare could actually have written all his own plays.

Others use science to display or figure out if Shakespeare actually wrote his own plays. A computational fingerprint that uniquely characterizes William Shakespeare's writing style. Helping to dispel any lingering doubts that he penned his own plays. Tracy Staedter writer of the found science found a lot of scientific evidence that proves that Shakespeare did indeed write his own plays. Shakespeare wrote 1611 so the theory that Oxford is the true writer of the Shakespeare plays but they would be wrong because Oxford died in 1601. He also said “Also, at least four different publishers put Shakespeare's dramas to print. If he had not been the author, they would have all had to keep the secret.” That is another actual fact that would defiantly prove that Shakespeare indeed is the true author of his plays and is still the greatest writer in American literature. Not a fraud in any way shape or form.

Finding the Fun in the Pun
Below are some lines from some of William Shakespeare's plays and sonnets. You will find a pun in each set of lines in bold print. On the lines below each quote, briefly explain the pun as you think Shakespeare might have intended for his audience. Remember, a pun can be a humorous play on words that look or sound alike, but have different meanings. Look at the hints provided and just take a minute to "think about it!"

1. "No, 'tis not so deep as a well, nor so wide as a church-door, but 'tis enough, 'twill serve: ask for me tomorrow, and you shall find me a grave man." Romeo and Juliet (Act iii, S.1) Hint:
Grave=serious, dead, sad.

-The wund is not so deep but by tomorrow you will find me a dead man.

2. I'll make a ghost of him that lets me!" Hamlet (Act i, S.4) Hint: In Shakespeare's day, "let"
meant "hinder," and today means the opposite, "allow."

-If you get me get in my way i will kill you.

3. "If reasons were as plentiful as blackberries, I would give no man a reason upon compulsion, I." Henry IV, Part On (Act ii, S.4) Hint: "Reason" was pronounced "raisin" in Shakespeare's day.

-If you can give as many excuses as possible no one should feel the need to do anything about it.

4. "Give me a torch: I am not for this ambling; Being but heavy, I will bear the light." Romeo and Juliet (Act i, S.4) Hint: Heavy = in a bad mood; Light = not weighing much; a torch.

Word order in Shakespearean Writing

When Shakespeare wrote his prose, he often used a slightly different word order than we are used
to. The subject, verb, and object did not always follow in a 1, 2, 3 order. Look at the following
sentence. Rewrite the sentence four times, changing the word order each time. Put one word on
each blank provided below the original sentence.
Original Sentence: I lost my homework.
Rewrite #1: __my_______ ___homework______ ___i______ __lost_______.
Rewrite #2: __i_______ ____my_____ ___homework______ ___lost______.
Rewrite #3: ___i ______ ___lost______ ___homework______ __my_______.
Rewrite #4: ___my ______ ___homework______ ____lost_____ __i_______.
Look at each of your rewritten sentences above. Has the meaning of the original sentence changed? No

No matter how you word it...you're toast if your homework is lost!
Now, think about how Yoda speaks in the Star Wars Movies. We understood exactly what he was saying, even though the word order was slightly different than what we are used to hearing. It's your turn to makeup a short sentence like the one above and rewrite it several different ways. Does the meaning change with the rewrites? Share your sentences.
Original Sentence: Hi my name is Mia
Rewrite #1: Hi Mia my name is
Rewrite #2:Mia is my name hi
Rewrite #3: Mia my name is hi
Rewrite #4: Hi Mia is my name
